Services & Facilities

The IADC-A Library Provides The Following Services.

All the students, the researchers, the faculty members and the employees of the IADC-A are eligible for the membership of the Library. The registered members are issued Borrower’s Ticket corresponding to their entitlement. Without the membership registration, no documents can be borrowed. To get the Library membership students have to produce the below mentioned documents:

  • Fill the Library Application.
  • Staff Five(5) ,PG Three(3), UG Two(2) Stamp Size Photo along with One(1) Passport Size Photo.
  • College ID Card.

IADC-A Library is initiated in issuing bar-coded library identity cards for all its members. The entitlements, in terms of the number of books that can be borrowed by the members, are as follows.

Open Access:

The greatest advantage that a Library can offer to its readers is its open access or open shelf system. This system enables the users to have direct and easy access to the book collection providing good opportunity and freedom to examine and browse the books. It encourages the users to develop a closer acquaintance with the diversity of information sources available in the Library. Keeping this in mind, the Library is practicing Open Access System.

Web OPAC:

Web OPAC – Online Public Access catalog can be accessed to search the bibliographic records available in the library through a web-based search interface has been provided for the benefit of the users to access databases of books, theses, dissertations and serials of our IADC-A Library collection. The OPAC can be searched by author, title, subject, keywords, call number, and publisher. Proper training is also provided to the Library Users, about the use of OPAC system, in the beginning of the academic year.

Circulation of Books:

The users are eligible to borrow books against identity card/borrower’s ticket for a period of 15 days. The books kept in reference section and the periodicals normally will not be issued. However under certain conditions the reference textbooks are issued to the faculty for overnight reference and return. Those who fail to return/renew the books within a specified due date will be levied an overdue charge of One Rupees per book per day.

New Arrivals:

Some selected titles of new books acquired by the Library are displayed in ‘New Arrivals’ racks for the benefit of users. These books will be on display for at least one week and after that they will be made available to borrow.

Reference Service:

The reference Service is an essential service offered by the IADC-A Library & Information Centre. It helps users to make full use of the resources available in the library. The main functions of the reference service are:

  • Providing guidance in the use of library resources and services
  • Assisting in accessing e-journals, e-books, databases, free open access journals, etc
  • Answering the reference questions directly asked by the users
  • Arranging library-tour for new users

Research Assistance:

Faculty members can approach librarians for any help regarding research articles, article requests, collecting data, cases, etc. from the subscribed and open-access e-journals.

Plagiarism Check Service:

IADC-A Library and Information Centre have accessed to the licensed version of Plagiarism Checking Software – ‘DRILBITT’ to the in-house faculty members for checking similarity report of research articles.

Scanning Facility:

Faculty can request for scan copy of a particular case study or book chapter or research article for teaching purpose (subject to copyright act)

Current Awareness Service:

The various methods used to keep patrons current with academic and professional literature are:

    • List of latest additions- Sending out the lists of newly acquired books through e-mail
    • Table of Contents – Table contents of any requested books, articles would be sent through the Google Group
  • News clipping service- The library provides newspaper or news clipping service to its users. 

Inter Library Loan:

IADC-A Library & Information Centre has interlibrary co-operation with local/regional government bodies like DELNET for resource sharing under Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The faculty members can request for any reference book which would be arranged for the ILL based on the availability.

Ready Reference Service & Long Range Reference Service

In ready reference service Library staff will answer the users queries with the help of dictionaries, encyclopedias, yearbooks, etc., which are more or less fact-finding questions. On the other hand Library staff also undertake long range service for the benefit of the users community. In this service, Library will offer the users the list of books on a given subject on demand.
