Phase 1 was held on Wednesday, 24th August 2022 at Corporation Primary School, Thimmaiah Road, BangaloreThe School Adoption Project is one of the important ISR activities & Best Practices undertaken by the Indian Academy Degree College.
Indian Academy has adopted 11 schools since 2008, which include Government and BBMP Schools under the Namma Shale – Namma Koduge programme a renewed effort by the Ministry of Education – “Adoption of Government Schools” scheme- a noble initiative of the Government of Karnataka.
First phase
Building renovation work has been taken up by Indian Academy for five Government and BBMP schools. More than sixty lakhs Rupees have been allocated for various types of school developmental work. This amount has been used for purchase of furniture, construction of toilets, renovation of buildings etc. and school bags were distributed to 530 students by Indian Academy.
The details of those schools are as below:
- Corporation Primary School, Thimmaiah Road, Bangalore
- Corporation High School , Thimmaiah Road, Bangalore
- Government Higher Primary School, Subbannaiah Palya, Bangalore
- Government Kannada Higher Primary School, Ramaswamy Palya, Bangalore
- Government Kannada Lower Primary School, Nagaiyanapalya, Bangalore
The inauguration ceremony of the renovated buildings of these five schools was held on August 24th, 2022 at Corporation High School, Thimmaiah Road.
Sri. B. C Nagesh, Honorable Minister of School Education and Literacy & Sakala of Karnataka, was the Chief Guest,
Dr M R Doreswamy, Formal Advisor, Education Reforms, Govt. of Karnataka, was the Guest of Honour.
Dr. V. Ramaprasath Manohar IAS, Special Commissioner, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was the special invitee.
DDPI Hanumanthaiah and other Educational Department Officials were part of the programme

Second phase
On this occasion, Dr. T Somasekhar, Chairman of Indian Academy, has informed that developmental work will be carried out in the remaining six schools, during the Second Phase of the program.
The Minister appreciated the initiative and contribution made by Indian Academy Group of Institutions. The programme concluded by thanking all the dignitaries who were present.
