B.Com (with CS) has been catered to aspirants who desire to build their professional competence on corporate competence and to be legal liaison officer of the company. Company Secretary (CS) is one of the principal posts in a company. The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) regulates and maintains the profession of Company Secretaries.
About Company Secretaryship
Company Secretary Course (CS) is offered by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), set up under the Company Secretaries Act, 1980 to regulate the profession of company secretaries in India.
The legal aspects of a business enterprise or sole proprietorship is handled by a certified Company Secretary on an individual capacity. A company secretary is responsible for maintaining and auditing the company’s tax returns, keeping records, advising the board of directors regarding the financial health of the company, and ensuring that the company complies with legal and statutory regulations. To be able to professionally practice Company Secretaryship, an individual has to complete professional training and pass examinations. The company secretary is responsible for the conduct of Annual General Meeting, Board of Directors meeting, maintaining the minutes and serves a liaison between the board of directors and the shareholders.
The Bachelor of Commerce B. Com programme is a four-year Honours Degree programme in Commerce. In Addition, A student can qualify for a professional programme i.e., CS. The institution has a MoU with APPTHA Academy. The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is the national Body for Professional company secretaries. There are four subjects at the foundation level or the Company Secretary Entrance Test. (CSEET). The executive level consists of two groups of four subjects each. The student along with his/her four years B. Com (Hons) will pursue partial professional Qualifications (CS executive). Students are exposed to various subjects varying from Economics, Ethics, company laws, tax laws, setting up a business and jurisprudence. Subjects which cater for the current demand in the industry that provides for self-learning and enhances the student learning experience and thus results in life-long learning. The students are provided in person classes in the college campus by professionals. Being an autonomous college, the curriculum is updated frequently aligning with the industry requirements.
